ADVANCE is an easy-to-use web-based Postal Service application. It provides a service that tracks the delivery process for qualified Standard Mail and Periodicals mailings. The ADVANCE process begins when the participating mailer uploads data files containing information about a mailing to the National Customer Support Center in Memphis, TN. They process the information, resolve any data-related issues or discrepancies, and post the mailing data to the ADVANCE website. Approximately 7,500 delivery units serving over 11,000 ZIP Codes are required to log in to the ADVANCE website at least once a day to check ADVANCE mailing information. These units are responsible for reporting the date that the mailing was located at the unit as well as the dates upon which delivery began and was completed.
The Postal Service is very aware that timing the delivery of advertising and promotions is critical to the success of direct mail campaigns and marketing strategies. We also recognize that publications must be delivered in a timely and consistent manner. The ADVANCE mailer web page provides all the information reported by the delivery units where it can be viewed and/or downloaded. ADVANCE also offers mailers access to delivery performance reports for each of their own mailings being tracked.
